Donations Individual Donations can be made in one of
two ways: The San Francisco Lyric Chorus is chartered by the State of California as a non-profit corporation and approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501c(3) organization. This status means that the Chorus may accept charitable donations, and donors may claim those donations as tax deductible.The Chorus depends upon contributions for about 40% of our normal operating budget. Monetary gifts of any amount are most welcome. In addition to soliciting general donations, we have a fund-raising program called “Adopt-A-Singer”. For $20, you can make a single trimester gift to the Chorus in support of a chorus member of your choice. For $100, you can be a sponsor of an entire section (sopranos, altos, tenors or basses). For $150, you can be a patron of our esteemed Music Director, Robert Gurney! We also have special funds to pay for particular needs. The Scholarship Fund helps cover the membership dues ($75 per trimester) of occasional chorus members who have such limited financial means that they cannot afford to pay dues (1-3 chorus members generally). The Musicians Fund helps cover the expense of hiring professional intrumentalists and singers, when we perform works which require us to hire such musicians. Normally, we spend $400-$600 for each such musician (2 rehearsals, 2 performances). Unless you specify otherwise, we list all donors in our concert program for one year.
